It’s a Beautiful World
HaPPY eaRTH DaY!
Please take care of our planet, won’t you? It’s an absolutely beautiful one to live in.
It brings us awesome things like this really really lovely Charter Communications commercial that makes me smile everything time I watch it (and that’s quite often because it comes on a lot.)
The Wang Sisters
Sisters are a beautiful thing. I really like mine but this pair comes pretty close too. Growing up with a mom who has four sisters of her own, I’ve always felt like my cousins were more like my siblings and definitely like my best friends. Especially my girl cousins as we are all fairly close in age. We invest deeply in our relationships with each other; we travel, we squabble, we have each others’ back forever and always.
Over the years, our relationships have matured. Instead of playing tag in someone’s backyard, we go out to parties together. Instead of all 9 of us squeezing into the back of one four-door sedan, we now all drive. Instead of growing up, we are growing old wiser and wiser. In one way or another we’ve all changed. But the love remains.

Two of my cousins, the Wang sisters, recently celebrated their birthdays. Even though they are oceans away, in Asia, I wanted to share my best wishes as they go into another fabulous, glamorous, healthy and happy year.
Home is Where My Heart is
Since I moved back to my hometown, my reign of home decorating is limited to merely my bedroom. And even then, it makes no sense to move my already settled and gorgeous matching white bed headset and bedside drawers out so basically, all of my decorating decisions just revolved around whether I wanted an Ikea Expedit bookcase in black or white. I went for the white. It matched everything else in my room. Even the walls.
However, just because I don’t have a whole lot of room (literally!) for my own decorating space doesn’t mean I can’t dream about it! I’ve been collecting elements for my future abode for awhile now. Thanks to my daily blog reads Oh Joy!, Design*Sponge, Daily Dose, Decor8, Apartment Therapy, Desire to Inspire, and Shop Friends, I have cumulated many inspirations. For your viewing pleasure…
Unleash the Genius Within

Author Elizabeth Gilbert’s genius is debatable.
After all, it’s not like she has won a Pulitzer. Or discovered the cure for cancer. It’s not like she even graduated from an Ivy League college.
Lookin’ Good
The other day at a dinner party, a friend received many compliments regarding her hair.
“Did you cut it?”
“It looks so good!”
“What did you do to your hair?”
A flurry of questions and praises were met with the response, “Well, you know what I did? Actually, all I did was…blow dry it after I get out of the shower.”
I wish it were only that easy for me to accomplish my morning hair-and-makeup ritual. No, I need a little more help than that.

Dreamy Design
There was a time, not so hard to believe, when I was a young, socially awkward college freshman who trembled at the thought of going to a frat party (no seriously, my friend asked me one time and I literally had a nervous breakdown because I was so scared to go) and had no idea how to keep a conversation going beyond, “I’m Janice, what’s your name? What year are you? And your major? Oh…cool…”
I think first impressions mean a lot. They don’t mean everything but they mean a lot. And two people most certainly made a first impression for me.
I think I still remembered the first time I met them. We were taking the same elevator. She had the most adorable haircut and he was sporting a teeny tiny Spiderman backpack. (Oh yea. And he was dreamy…)I developed insta-crushes. I wanted to be their friends just because they have this infectious energy and self confidence and I was hoping maybe some of it would rub off on me. (Oh yea. And he was dreamy…) I was having a hard time going from a high school where everybody knew who I was to this ginormous university where people seemed to have magically all made friends already with eachother by the first week…and left me out of the loop.
Luckily, destiny seemed to have also planned the same fate for us.
Choo Choo

This is my new ride. You like? Yea, I decided to trade my car in for something a little roomier this time.
Oh Baby Baby Baby Oh
I stumble into my office building, a little bleary-eyed still from sleeping in and out of my 2 hour journey to get from home to here. There’s a mush of people in the lobby-much more than usual. Tall men all dressed in black who stare at me skeptically, clumps of colorfully-dressed little girls in striped scarfs and bubble skirts giggle in and out. When I walk past a group eating at a table near Starbucks, they have their cameras ready to snap.
“Oh, how cute. These tweens think I’m a star. Even with my half-wet hair and carrying a huge sack lunch for the week. Well, I suppose I do have that star quality, heh heh heh.” I chuckle to myself, head swelling by the second.
Then, when I get to the elevators, Bob, this cute little old lobby man, says, “well, looks like security is here. He should be in any second now.”
He? Who’s “he,” Bob?
“He’s Justin Bieber.”
I was so embarrassed to feel the secret rush of excitement that I would be in the same building as Justin Bieber. Only one elevator ride separates us!
Then I slapped myself in the face and headed into work.

Don’t you point your finger at me, young man.

I have this problem. I have a need to share with the world my passions and interests and hope that they will also enjoy it. Hence, this blog is born- to showcase some of the things I'm most fascinated with. Most of the posts relate to the media as it relates to me. (Blame the early twenties neurosis of thinking the world revolves around you). (More..)
