Help Me Become a TV Star!
After all the brou ha ha I went on yesterday about following your dreams reaching for the stars, did you just think I was going to sit around myself and continue to surf the internet and watch the E! Network, commenting that I can do a better job than those talking heads?
Nuh uh.
I am trying to get on Oprah’s new reality show, “Your Own Show,” where Oprah has teamed up with reality show creator extraordinaire Mark Burnett to search for the next TV star me.
I am requesting you, my loyal readers, my friends who still owe me Birthday presents, my acquaintances who thought I was a nice girl, my strangers who stalk me to please please please please please vote for me on this link here and help make my dreams of becoming a TV personality come true!
I never thought I would try out for a reality TV show (besides American Idol, of course) but this is the perfect opportunity for me to do it!
You can vote as many times as you would like. (Though the requisite to get me to stay your friend is to vote at least 1,000 times a day.)
And tell all your friends too! Much obliged.
JJ
Dream Big
I had a very Ellen Degeneres-filled week. After watching her E True Hollywood story yesterday, I was so inspired by the woman’s moxy, will to succeed, and pure talent to make America laugh. She is an example that even in the darkest of times, you don’t give up. You just don’t. You keep being yourself and you keep spreading the love.
Today, I sporadically switched to her afternoon show (possibly itching to catch more of her after being so inspired by her the day before) and lo and behold! To my surprise, there she was featuring one of my sister’s friends, Joseph Vincent (I just call him Joe ’cause I’m cool with him like that) on the show!
Not only was it a joy to watch the talented Joe perform on Ellen, watch Ellen wrap her arms around him (who doesn’t want a hug from Ellen?), but it was a special treat to find out that he had just won ten freaking thousand dollars as part of some Youtube talent search thing! You can all watch Joe hit the jackpot here.
Dream on, kids. And dream big. As you sit in your cubicles or behind your desk, wishing you were doing something else, don’t forgot that you can. Start now. And for those of you who are already trying to make your dreams come true, keep at it. You’ll never regret it. Never.
Congrats, Joe! Say hi to Anthony for me! (And uh, remember that time you said you were going to treat Jessica and I to a lobster dinner? I’m kind of hungry…)
Ugly Betty, Beautiful Show
I had been dragging out finishing the show for as long as I could. But last week, I finally finished the last episode of ABC’s Ugly Betty. People say this often about TV characters but I really really really related to Betty Suarez. Inspired by Eve, I will share with you why she is me and I am her and we were one.
I Do (Believe in Love, Weddings, Marriages)
It is completely normal for a girl to do this, okay?
To drift away and daydream ferociously about her special day, where she will be decked out in an amazing gown, walking towards her Prince Charming to be joined in holy matrimony in front of all of their loved ones. There will be blooming flowers and sparkling silverware, soft satin and joyous music. She will get everything her heart ever desires; cute table settings, the ring, the man. Sigh…glorious.
For All My B*Tches And H*es
My friend wanted me to write a post about her. Apparently, the other one I had penned wasn’t good enough.
I’ve always been a pushover so here you go, WiseChild, here you go.
Jezebel
As many of you know, I have an really hot younger sister. The kind that lives in “the bubble” and breaks hearts with a toss of her hair. My sister is not just a pretty face though. She’s also a legit actress and an amazing model who’s taking Hong Kong by storm (or stilettos). Not content with spreading her star power through mere Asia, she’s also been hustlin’ over here in Hollywood for years now. One project we’re all really excited to see her in is the new Emma Stone and Amanda Bynes flick, Easy A .
The trailer just came out! Check it here…
Can you spot my sis? No? Well…look veerrrryyy carefully around 1:24.
See her?
No?
Let me make it easier for you.

Hehe. I find it so funny that she’s holding a “Jezebel” sign. That’s my nickname for her! (NOT because she’s a slut.)
Can’t wait ’til you come back to Cali for the September premiere, Jess!
This is How a Heart Breaks
I got asked out the other day. It was during an elevator ride between the 15th and 20th floor. I think it probably began a lot earlier than that. Probably around the time he woke me during my 25 minute last-chance shut-eye during the bus ride from the train station to my office. Or maybe it began when I had brought a cake on board the bus and he joked if he could have a piece. But the actual asking out took place during that elevator ride; as the elevator doors were closing.

Though my baby sister and I are three years apart, to many, we can be mistaken for twins. We’ve even gotten by playing identical twins for a Dr. Scholl’s commercial before.
But poor, poor Jessica. I was extra-greedy when I was born and took all of the dorky gene, leaving my unlucky, second-born sister with only hotness. HAHA SUCKA!
So whereas I snort when I laugh, she has this lovely melodious chuckle.
So whereas I always make the most awkward first impressions, she comes off looking cool as a cucumber.
So whereas I am usually placed in the “friends” category with guys, she is the “girl to get.”
So whereas I look like this…
…in pictures, she looks like that.
Mamma Mia

I have two mothers.
The one on the left is my biological one. She is an amazing woman; beautiful, smart, fiercely devoted to her family, and a constant dreamer. Our relationship is like any other mother-daughter relationship, complex, emotional, full of drama and more importantly, love.
The one on the right is my aunt-my mom’s older sister. She is the complete opposite of my mom. Despite their different personalities, they are very very close and growing up, I have always had my aunt taking care of us, having our backs, financially, emotionally, physically.
With such amazing role models, it’s no wonder I have every inclination to grow up and become a strong woman myself.
Moms, just wanted to thank you for everything you have given me in this lifetime. Thank you for always believing in me, whether I want to be a broke writer or a famous movie star. Thank you thank you thank you! I am so blessed to be your daughter.

Oh, and my moms wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for my grandma. The matriarch of our clan, my grams is the loveliest, sassiest lady ever! She kicks Betty White’s ass!
HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!
Whee! Glee!
One of my bosses gave me a pile of packages to open. I tackled this new task like a child on Christmas morning, ripping apart the boxes and dumping out all the contents inside.
One particular box was bigger than the rest. My boss had thought it was a movie. I opened that one and gasped.
To tell you the truth, I had given up on Glee awhile back. Though I had a made a big hoo ha over it and converted some of my closest friends, I myself lost interest midway through. The actors are still pretty and the songs marvelous but the terribly trite, dramatic and unconvincing storylines made me raise my hands in defeat and move my love back to Ugly Betty. I never did finish the first season.
Nonetheless, I still felt an immense amount of glee at holding these in my hands. Oh! To be my boss and have ownership over these!
I chuckle at what is essentially the most exciting part of my day to my dear friend and…guess which assistant extraordinaire was responsible for packaging those Glee products?
Yep. Small world indeed.
Oh, and guess who ended up the lucky recipient of those products?
I love my job.
I guess I was meant to give Glee another shot, huh?

I have this problem. I have a need to share with the world my passions and interests and hope that they will also enjoy it. Hence, this blog is born- to showcase some of the things I'm most fascinated with. Most of the posts relate to the media as it relates to me. (Blame the early twenties neurosis of thinking the world revolves around you). (More..)
