It sucks that hardship is often cast as the villian in the story of Thanksgiving. People are always grateful for the good things happening in their lives- shining spotlight on the abundance of love and joy, the kindness of strangers, the pretty little objects they are blessed with.

Well, what about all the tough times, the bad days, the setbacks? They get no love?

Gray’s Anatomy

I revisited my alma mater the other day to check out the LCC show. It was great. I laughed, I cried. I gasped, I sighed. After the show, we old folks hung around the lobby and I noticed… an eerily heavy amount of grays and muted blacks going on amidst the crew.

Why?

“It’s because everyone is gloomy from the recession!” I gasped.

Motivational Monday: Katy Pertty “Firework”

It’s refreshing to see Katy Pertty all classy and toned down. She’s even more pretty with less makeup. I don’t know how I feel about the fireworks shooting out of everyone’s chests but the song is pretty dang motivational.

My favorite part:

Motivational Monday: Love Language

Participating in the Good Mood Blogger contest forced me to make myself write up a short Good Mood post everyday to slyly remind my readers to vote. And though, at 41st place, I didn’t make it to top 20 to be in the next round, I realized I loved writing those posts!

And at least one of my friends liked reading them too, suggesting I deem Mondays, Motivational Monday.

Here is the first one!

I’m such a sucker for post-it notes love stories. Probably because that’s how I won my first love’s heart (I wooed him with a happy face post-it stuck to his car’s side mirror. Yea, slick right?) and this one is so genuine, so heartfelt that I even forgave the cheesy last line it ended with. Check it out and share it if you like it! Ok, not really but I figured the headline might grab your attention.

My friends put together a parody for this contest though and I’m supporting them all the way! There’s a bunch of other great submissions for the competition but c’mon, how is Mike’s agonizing face not gonna get you to empathize in pain? How is Kelly’s sharp dance moves not going to get you to swoon? How is Herman’s wet shower scene not going to get you…to burst into laughter?

I’ve something to tell you, my friend,

The voting has now come to an end.

We really had quite a great run,

With 2273 votes, I ain’t no bum.

You were all a good sport though,

Putting up with my spams, whoa!

Even though I didn’t reach the top,

Feeling like a winner just won’t stop.

I feel all the love and support in the world,
