Good Mood Quote of the Day

Monday, 11.8.2010

“The best sermons are lived, not preached.”

~Cowboy Wisdom (but I first saw on Lisa Ling’s twitter)

I got to interview Lisa Ling for Audrey Magazine the other day (with my good friend Caroline (red stripes) and our lovely photographer Audrey (black top)). She has a new show on Oprah’s OWN network, out in January. Lisa, as usual, is always an encouragement. Not merely a say-er, she is a do-er that always let’s her actions do the talking.

It’s important for us to have role models; people to look up to, to emulate.  Who are yours?

Good Mood Brag of the Day

Sunday, 11.7.2010

I can finally share with you something that has been making me happy for about a month now.

My new business cards!

Photo courtesy of Liz from www.souliz.com

If these are lookin’ a wee bit small to ya, it’s because they are! I got these mini-cards from moo. They’re half the size but double the cuteness. It’s kind of ironic because when you have really ugly business cards, you can’t wait to use them up but no one is really excited to receive them because they’re ugly but when you have pretty ones, you don’t want to give them out but everybody wants one.

Good Mood Quote of the Day: 2 For 1

Friday, 11.5.2010

“When I grow up I want to be a little boy.”

~Joseph Heller

“The pursuit of truth and beauty is a sphere of activity in which we are permitted to remain children all our lives.”

~Albert Einstein

Growing up is hard, but I try to keep a childlike innocence and exuberance to all I do. If that makes me a tad immature or naive or foolish then so be it. At least I’m having fun.

I like kids. I like Lily from Modern Family. She is adorable. Happy Friday! Thank you for voting!

Good Mood List of the Day

Thursday, 11.4.2010

“If you want to feel rich, just count the things you have that money can’t buy.”
~Proverbs

So I count:

  1. Family who sometimes drive me up the wazoo but I know will go to the ends of the earth for me (and keep me entertained while doing it.)
  2. Getting to wear shorts in November.
  3. Friends who scheme up elaborate plans to get me to top 20 for the Good Mood Blogger contest. That I even have friends. That’s pretty cool.
  4. The secret question and answer my sister and I have for each other. (Just in case aliens ever invade one of our bodies.)
  5. Getting to read Taylor Swift’s “Sparks Fly” lyrics online and singing along to my CD. The words just make me swoon.
  6. When people I know are doing exceptional things. Doing things they’re passionate about. Doing things they’ve never done before. Doing things they’re scared shitless to do. That means you, you and you.
  7. Modern Family and How I Met Your Mother and 30 Rock and Mad Men and Ugly Betty and Veronica Mars and Friends and Gilmore Girls and all great TV that makes me feel things.
  8. The library. Books. The ability to read. The capability to love reading books.
  9. Having a heart that can break so easily but will mend over time.
  10. Knowledge that I don’t deserve anything in this world but that I have been given everything. (thx for the reminder Helena.)

If you want to vote, link here. Thank you!!

Good Mood Blog of the Day

“Move out of your comfort zone. You can only grow if you are willing to feel awkward and uncomfortable when you try something new.”

~Brian Tracy

I am a really awkward person, did you know that? I know. Shocking, right? An example of my awkwardness:

I went to a party and ran into this girl that used to date one of my old high school classmates.  I had always seen them around together in past gatherings and we semi-recognize each other in a hazy fuzzy way.  She was dating the guy really really seriously for a number of years but I had heard that they had broken up recently.  So, at this particular bash, I was not that surprised that she was there with a completely different dude. What I was surprised was what came out of my mouth:

Me: “Hey, you’re Girl, right?”
Girl: “Yea, hey nice to see you.”
Me: “You used to date HighschoolClassmate, right?”
Girl: “Uh yea,” (eyes her new boy) “We broke up.”

Obviously.

Me: “Oh, sorry to hear that.”

Awkward silence ensues for 10 million years.

Me: (waving gangly arms around frantically) “Hey, I didn’t just make things awkward, did I? Did I?”

Yep. Told ya I was awkward.

But if you think I’m awkward, you ain’t heard none of my friend, Josh Lehrman’s stories yet.  This awkward man blows my awkward woman out of the water.  Luckily, Josh also happens to be an exceptionally talented writer who turns his life’s chagrins into nuggets of comedy gold. And he’s offering these nuggets on his blog, It’s True Because It’s Funny. Josh makes clear that some of his tales are tall but that’s okay because they’re so freakin’ hilarious, you’d want to read it anyway.

I want to make people laugh like that. Give me a chance to do so as a Good Mood Blogger! Just found out that sometimes you can trick the system by going on your browser, clicking out of it and clicking back in a few minutes/hours later. So if you have time, help an awkward girl out? Thank you!

Good Mood Quote of the Day

Tuesday, 11.2.2010

“Getting started is more important than getting it perfect.”

~The Daily Love

I started on a new project yesterday (Yes, I know, another one?!) Scared as heck, no idea what I’m doing. But at least I started. Let’s just hope I also finish!

Speaking of finishing up things, I was getting kind of disillusioned about the whole voting thing for the Good Mood Blogger contest because let’s face it, I ain’t Yahoo’s 2008 Personality of the Year, I ain’t a paraplegic dad of 4 adorable tykes, I ain’t no website creator, I ain’t no comedian, I’m just me, someone with this blog and a couple of friends on Facebook. And some of those friends even started defriending me because of my spam good mood messages! (It’s okay, I don’t want to be your friend anyway.)

But you know what, I’m going to continue because regardless of if I win or lose, at least I know I’ll have tried my best. If you guys know of any other cute, clever ways for me to remind people to vote for me everyday-something YOU would want to see, please let me know! We got about a week left of this madness so if there’s something you want to see me write/vblog/tweet/sing/beg about, please let me know! I’m open to trying it. (Except for stripping, my tummy is not in tip top shape, I don’t want to lose readers.)

Oh yes, and please vote!

Good Mood Pictures Of the Day

Monday, 11.1.2010

Meet Boo.

How can something be this cute? Is it even legal?

I feel like something as adorable as this should be banned. It might stop work productivity and cause constant “oohing” and “aahing” amongst the public.  Such a disturbance!

But since it’s not banned, enjoy! And VOTE! You know the drill. Once a day, but as many outlets (phone, laptop, multiple servers) as you can find. Thanks for reading (and oohing and aahing).

Thanks Evan for incurring such cuteness upon me

I have this problem. I have a need to share with the world my passions and interests and hope that they will also enjoy it. Hence, this blog is born- to showcase some of the things I'm most fascinated with. Most of the posts relate to the media as it relates to me. (Blame the early twenties neurosis of thinking the world revolves around you). (More..)
