Woo Weds

You may or may not have remembered my obsessive, Bridezilla-like post about marriages a couple months past. If not, here’s a reminder. Well, the post was brought on by one of two things. 1) My good friend Val was getting married and I was to attend her wedding end of July and 2) my former editor/current co-worker and pal Michelle Woo was also tying the knot. I am an avid reader of Michelle’s most-excellent blog and the woman has been on a non-stop rampage posting about her upcoming nuptials so it was tough not to get out of the bridal bubble.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, I delayed my return from Hong Kong in July and ended up missing Val’s wedding. I did get to see Facebook shots though, and she was beamingly beautiful and gloriously goofy, just the Val I remember.

Funny how things work out because even though I was unable to attend Val’s wedding, I did get another shot at popping my “friend’s wedding” cherry.  The day I returned to work at Audrey Magazine as their new assistant editor, Michelle asked me if I would do the honor and go to her bash. Um, heck yes!

Held in the Pacific Palisades hills, the wedding was the perfect reflection of the couple – colorful, quirky, fun, tech-savvy.  The infamously hilarious Alex Choi of Sovereign Grace) even started his off speech with, “I think this is the most cameras I have ever seen at a wedding.” That’s what happens at the wedding of a famous blogger, I guess.

Michelle’s hip dad was filming with his flip cam as he walked his beautiful daughter down the aisle.

This is the second wedding I’ve been to where Pastor Alex Choi presided.  The man is hilarious without being over the top – perfect for young couples with a good sense of humor. He dished out loads of love and commitment advice, with this one I hold most true.  I’m paraphrasing so bare with me here:

“Even though you will have love, in a marriage, there needs to be something greater that you have to cling onto in your life. For some of you, that may be your community, your family, for many more out there, it will be God. I pray that you find this greater thing.”

He also gave a lot of choice tidbits-let’s just say the man was a walking quote book – most of which left us cackling with laughter. I wasn’t only watching two people get married, I was watching a comedy show!

Oh, young love. <3

The adorableness of Matt & Michelle’s wedding is likened to that of a sweet 16 bash or an 80′s prom. In any case, the attention to detail was impeccable. You wanted to take (or take a picture of) everything!

This is the younger- but just as hot-Woo sister, Carissa! Woo hoo!

Michelle looked sooo amazing as the beaming bride.  I loved that her wedding had “Michelle Woo” written all over it (with a little of Matt P tossed in there).  Besides being my first one as a bonafide friend-guest, this wedding will always stand out to me, even when I become this 40-year wedding connoisseur who attends one every weekend because it had the marks of the bride (and groom) stamped all over it.  Quirky, festive and fun. Fun. That’s important for any special occasion, isn’t it?

First summer wedding: check! As the weather turns colder-or, in global warming’s case, warmer- I’m busy busy busy running around working on a couple of super super super exciting projects (just had to put in those repetitions there). Hoping to unveil some on this blog soon! Until then!

PS. Do people ever end what they say with “until then?” Is there something that’s supposed to come after it? Forgive my fobbiness if “until then” is not a proper ending. Well, it is now! Muaahaha

PPS. Cool shots thanks to Kai

Double Awwwww! It was so great to see your pretty smiling face there. Thanks for posting this so I can relive the day again and again. And thanks for paraphrasing the ceremony message — honestly the whole sermon was a blur to me. I really want to be reminded of what pastor Alex said!

I have this problem. I have a need to share with the world my passions and interests and hope that they will also enjoy it. Hence, this blog is born- to showcase some of the things I'm most fascinated with. Most of the posts relate to the media as it relates to me. (Blame the early twenties neurosis of thinking the world revolves around you). (More..)
