Let’s get the elephant out of the room.

Yes, I know. I look like the spittin’ image of my father. I actually look even more like my nai nai (dad’s mom) but my dad is a close twin.

Growing up, my dad and I also often had very similar personalities.  We are the more cool-headed half of the family while my sister and my mom carries a lot of the fire and pep. We have the same joking manners. (I think I learned from my dad the whole, “it’s not funny? it’s not funny?” bit.) My dad is easy to talk to, often a calming presence and someone I know will always have my back.  When my ex-boyfriend’s car broke down in the middle of nowhere, my dad went to pick him up and get him home. When I told him I wanted to take the train to work, he personally woke up at 6 in the morning to test-run my train route to make sure I wouldn’t get lost or run late my first time taking it. When I went to study abroad for half a year, he emailed me this. He always wanted me to be a basketball player but got over his heartbreak of learning I have no hand-eye coordination WHATSOEVER and supports my sister and I’s girly endeavors of becoming glamorized movie stars or pageant queens or whatever as much as he can.

Both my parents are amazing in each of their own ways. And I know I don’t say it enough to them personally nor to the world but I am truly truly blessed. Happy father’s day, Bob. I may grow up someday and meet another man that is important in my life but just know that whenever I sleep with my mouth open, catch a glimpse of my dimples in the mirror or get made fun of for loving to eat meat so much, I will always know where I got that from. Oh yea, and also thanks for giving me the most awesome name ever. I love being a Jann!

PS. I don’t have a cute little brother. That’s my cuz cuz John John. And he is still just as adorable. And siiingle, ladies! *wink wink

whoa it’s nai nai in chinese?
that’s funny because the general word for “mother” in tagalog is “nanay”
    pronounced NAH-nai

I have this problem. I have a need to share with the world my passions and interests and hope that they will also enjoy it. Hence, this blog is born- to showcase some of the things I'm most fascinated with. Most of the posts relate to the media as it relates to me. (Blame the early twenties neurosis of thinking the world revolves around you). (More..)
