Eating Through Life

Friday, 09.10.2010

I am a foodie. I live to eat. I look forward to every meal like it’s the hottest concert in town. I adore the experience I get of breaking some bread with my beloveds.  It’s never a quiet time when I sit down to eat. The oohs and aahs and mms and yums are inevitable.

However, I am by no means a food blogger. Those people are a whole other animal. The way they can describe the sensations and subtleties of food is absolutely incredible and blows my mind. The way they love food-so much that they can get into arguments on which meats are the best to grill with or which wine to go with which dish-is so enjoyable for an outsider like me to survey.

Audrey Magazine was invited by some lovely folks at Fooddigger, Will and Brian, to the last night of LudoBites 5.0, the brainchild of chef Ludo Lefebvre who turns breakfast and lunch cafes into fancy dinner restaurants at night.  The restaurant, Gram & Papas, was cozy and the community of food lovers there just made it all the more warmer.

I went with my brilliant photographer friend who took snapshots all throughout the night.  Her glorious pictures speak for itself.

I ate so much that night. So much amazing, amazing food.  I wish I could throw some of it up and share it with you but I can’t. So here are some of my favorite dishes in the best way that I can describe them.

It's like mashed potatoes. But so much more awesomer.

The cold crisp juiciness of the tomatoes melded with the mozzarella ice cream gave me brain freeze in the best way possible

The fried chicken gives Kyochon chicken a run for their money

When I tasted this, no joke, orgasm in my mouth

If you don't love cheese, you can't be my friend. Unless if you're lactose, then I make an exception.

I realized that a night with wine and good friends (and maybe even some not so good friends) can make for an amazing night.

I fell in love with more than just Ludo’s food that night. I fell in love with this exhilarating experience of enjoying something in the company of other people who know exactly what you mean and how you feel.  These food bloggers and friends were soo into everything!  I get to do this quite often with my cousins (who are STICK THIN even though they may love food even more than I do!) and certain friends but I hope I’ll be able to do it more often with my immediate family.

Speaking of food and family, (shameless plug) my cuz totally has a food blog you should check out because she goes to some amazing places and takes awesome pictures.

Where to dine next, LA?

I have this problem. I have a need to share with the world my passions and interests and hope that they will also enjoy it. Hence, this blog is born- to showcase some of the things I'm most fascinated with. Most of the posts relate to the media as it relates to me. (Blame the early twenties neurosis of thinking the world revolves around you). (More..)
