Fatty’s

Ugh, life in a cubicle is doing my body no favors.
Week 1 has been awful on my eating habits; I constantly munch or buy takeout (sandwiches and fries, onion rings, chips, oh my!) and I go crazy over the office’s unlimited drinks in the storage room.
It has been awful on my workout; I spend the two hours I normally would have been exercising in the mornings sitting in my car in standstill traffic. I think I probably could run faster to work.
It has been awful on my sleep. I realize that sleeping less than 6 hours a day for me will cause my brain to get cloudy and I feel like I’m living my life out of a haze. I finally slept 7 hours last night and it felt sooo good.
Next week, I have got to start packing my own healthier lunch and planning some time to workout at least a couple of times a week. I worked too hard for this body to let it all go to moot.
Got any ideas that can help me out?
“I feel like lard.”
Me too.

I have this problem. I have a need to share with the world my passions and interests and hope that they will also enjoy it. Hence, this blog is born- to showcase some of the things I'm most fascinated with. Most of the posts relate to the media as it relates to me. (Blame the early twenties neurosis of thinking the world revolves around you). (More..)

AWWWW thats no good. im sure you can fit it in!! after work??? bring your gym clothes and work out first in la..before you come back…then you wont have to drive back in traffic!!
i love you
Yeah! You could also try working out in la BEFORE work. I wouldn’t be able to wake up that early but it’s an idea. If your boss is flexible , I’d also try to negotiate coming in early and leaving a little early or the reverse. I don’t know how comfortable you feel with that , but it’s an idea.
When I started working, the cubicle killed me and I had no energy after work to do anything. I think that you really have to simplify your life, at least at first, to be able to get a workout habit into your schedule. I started exercising again this year, and the only way I was able to keep focus was because I simplified my THINGS TO DO after work to just exercise and one other different item a week. You really don’t have much time when you work, especially if you have a hell commute. If you just focus on 2 things for a while, work & sleep, you’ll see that your time will slowly open up and you won’t be stressed about exercising. The sleep part is tough bc it really shortens your free time… I try to start getting ready for bed at 9 so that I can try to get to bed by 10 and if I can’t get to bed by 10 then I’m in bed by 11 , which gives me 8 hours of sleep. Yeah, I know, you have to like prep 2 hours in advance. But that’s my secret. More sleep helps you lose weight sista!
I totally feel ya on the podcast/cd listening! I scrounged the library and got some non-fiction books on CD and they make my drive so much better! I have a 40 minute drive but my highways don’t really drop below 40mph. So sorry you have to hit the LA traffic hun.
I RARELY eat out, I always bring my own lunch sandwhich and I pack them before the week starts. I still gained weight doing that because I didn’t exercise, but packing does help by limiting your portions and you save a lot of money $$$. Not eating at your desk is a good idea too and I still try to take those lunch naps every once in a while (lol shh).
I hope this helps. You’re definitely on the right track and I have no doubt you’ll hit your goals. Reading your “The Weight is Off” entry seriously motivated me. I always think about it when I exercise, believe it or not. You showed that it’s all possible, you just have to work for it. As part of a weight loss competition, I lost 8 lbs in a little over 2 months!
@vani, that is SOOOO AWESOME! Congratulations! Yes, all are marvelous tips, I will definitely try to keep motivated. Thank you for the encouragement!
