Home is Where My Heart is

Tuesday, 04.20.2010

Since I moved back to my hometown, my reign of home decorating is limited to merely my bedroom. And even then, it makes no sense to move my already settled and gorgeous matching white bed headset and bedside drawers out so basically, all of my decorating decisions just revolved around whether I wanted an Ikea Expedit bookcase in black or white. I went for the white. It matched everything else in my room. Even the walls.

However, just because I don’t have a whole lot of room (literally!) for my own decorating space doesn’t mean I can’t dream about it! I’ve been collecting elements for my future abode for awhile now. Thanks to my daily blog reads Oh Joy!, Design*Sponge, Daily Dose, Decor8, Apartment Therapy, Desire to Inspire, and Shop Friends, I have cumulated many inspirations. For your viewing pleasure…

My future place will have bright, warm colors to light up the place.

And I’ve always imagined myself with a house by the sea, atop a cliff. Can’t you just feel the sea breeze coming in through this picture? Aaaahh…

A bibliophile such as myself will never be content with space-wasters like bookcases or bookshelves. I rather like how these are stacked along the floor.

And of course, I’d have to have a place to read all my books. A cozy little book nook like this would be so gooood (but also bad because I’d never want to leave the house!)

Not only would books dominate my space, photos would also have to. (Have you been to my house? My family don’t fool around with our pictures). An arrangement like this leaves photo displaying unusual and uncluttered.

The quaint charm of old-fashioned chalkboards always had my fancy. How cool would it be to have something like this in my kitchen? I’d just have to be careful chalk dust doesn’t fall on the food!

And if we (we as in my dashing and debonoir and kind and wise future husband and my three adorable and well-behaved and precocious little tykes plus all my visiting family like the glamorous movie star aunt Jessica and the kindly, doting grandparents) were to dine outdoors, a set up like this would make it hard to stay indoors.

It’s important to have your living space be a representation of who you are. Or else, you’d never want to go home!

I have this problem. I have a need to share with the world my passions and interests and hope that they will also enjoy it. Hence, this blog is born- to showcase some of the things I'm most fascinated with. Most of the posts relate to the media as it relates to me. (Blame the early twenties neurosis of thinking the world revolves around you). (More..)
