This is Just the Beginning
When I memorized the alphabet, I was 2. I sat in my aunt’s kitchen in Plano, Texas with my grandmother watching over my shoulders, making sure I was doing my work.
When I first learned to read a complete sentence, I was 4. The sentence was from a book about a black cat.
When I first won a writing award, I was 6. I wrote about how best friends are the type you share chocolate chip cookies with.
When I first read copies of Vogue, stolen from my mom’s shop, I was 8. I especially remember a cover with a very pretty-looking Tyra Banks in an orange sundress.
When I got my first subscription to Seventeen Magazine, I was 12. My whole world changed as I felt the influence an article or a profile or even a picture can have on my entire teenage girl view.
I am now 23 and the first Audrey Magazine that I worked on as assistant editor just arrived in the mail for me. (Subscribe here.)
Inside these pages, I am reminded of all the amazing opportunities I got to experience through this gig, whether it was chit-chatting with talented individuals for interviews…
Or getting to attend amazing events whether it be fashion shows, movie screenings, charity balls or musical performances.
Someday.
Someday when I am right where I belong, somewhere I’ve always dreamed to be, as someone I’ve probably never envisioned myself to be. Someday if I become jaded or downtrodden or tired or lost or big-headed, let me remember this moment.
Let me remember my humble background, my excitable start, my early days. Let me remember all the building blocks, all the stepping stones, all the walls I scaled, all the mountains I’ve climbed, all the people who’ve lent a helping hand. From a girl whose world was getting flipped upside down by an article in a teen magazine to a young woman who was trying to do the same to others with my own writing, this is just the beginning.
And man, I can’t wait for the rest.

I have this problem. I have a need to share with the world my passions and interests and hope that they will also enjoy it. Hence, this blog is born- to showcase some of the things I'm most fascinated with. Most of the posts relate to the media as it relates to me. (Blame the early twenties neurosis of thinking the world revolves around you). (More..)

I am so proud. You take nothing for granted and recognize the true value of everything earned and given.
