The Remedy
I think I have found the solution to getting a job. Well, not there yet but at least to getting job interviews.
It is…are you ready for it? Ready? Ya sure? Okay, here goes…
It is making to-do lists.
And that’s not all!
…You have to cross them off.

I know you feel gypped. Like, “dude, Janice, you haven’t updated in ages and when you finally do, it’s with this crappy advice that I do in my sleep?!”
I am and am not a lot of things. I am dorky. I am not cool. I am passionate about life. I am not passionate about video games. I am prideful. I am not too humble.
One thing I most certainly am not is organized. But I am working on it. It’s a wonder I got through life all these years just “winging it” and “seeing how it goes.”
Sure, I love making to-do lists as much as the next person. But unlike the next person, I usually write them on papers I forget about, in notebooks I never look back on. Or I put off the things on my to-do list until they’re no longer things I have to do nor want to do. Like purple highlights in my hair? Yeah, doesn’t sound too appealing anymore. But not no more. I am a changed woman. Since the beginning of this month, I have been actively using one notebook to organize my life (at least the job hunting part of it) together. Every single position applied for is documented, listed and detailed. I write down if I have received a response, an interview or more (sadly, no “mores” yet.) Checking up on that list on a regular basis makes me want to complete more job applications and allows me to treat each individual job opportunity as a unique, specific job opportunity as opposed to just another 9-5 to fill my spare time with. This makes my resumes come off more succinct, polished, and heading in an actual direction suited to my potential employers’ liking as opposed to just a list with my past experiences.
I have been receiving fairly good feedback thus far and am banking on more. I am hitting myself in the head for not having realized this organizational technique sooner but better now than never!
Now, if only I can just organize my personal life as nicely.

I have this problem. I have a need to share with the world my passions and interests and hope that they will also enjoy it. Hence, this blog is born- to showcase some of the things I'm most fascinated with. Most of the posts relate to the media as it relates to me. (Blame the early twenties neurosis of thinking the world revolves around you). (More..)
