The Game of Hollywood’s Hunger Games
Every now and then, a book comes along that transforms my body and soul–in the literal sense too because I starve and sleep-deprive myself in order to finish reading as soon as possible. There was The Time Traveler’s Wife, The Eyes of the Dragon, Food for Millionaires, Life of Pi, A Great and Terrible Beauty, My Sister’s Keeper, Eat Pray Love, The House of the Spirits, The Harry Potter series and much much more but I am terrible at remembering titles.

The Hunger Games is no exception. In fact, if anything, it is like all my favorite books rolled into one fantastic trilogy. There’s the love story, the action, the drama, the mystery, the conspiracy, the humor, the meaningful message that stays with you on the state of our world.
Paramount Studios

I visited the set of Paramount lot the other day with Caroline. Can you guess which show we were visiting?
Thoughts on Japan Disaster

If you asked me which of the seven deadly sins I succumb to, sloth would not be high on the list. Yes, I envy way too much for my own good and I am ever so lustful, but sloth? Not so much. I am a self-professed workaholic who hates spending a day lounging around and I always try to be most efficient with my appointments. (Scheduling them all on the same day, back to back, etc.)
But at Sovereign Grace, the church I’ve been visiting recently, the pastor is covering the seven deadly sins and last week’s message on sloth totally hit home for me.
I am a sloth. A total sloth.
Why Vanessa Why?

Dear Vanessa Hudgens,
It’s me, Janice. You don’t know me but I am quite familiar with you and your public persona. I’ve been one of your early fans, following you from your ascent as Miss High School Musical, singing and dancing your way to the top of Disney royalty as giggly Gabriella Montez. I remember when you first came onscreen–pretty girl, sweet voice, what’s not to love?
Growing a Thick (Dumpling) Skin
I never have been nor ever will be a tiny Asian girl. I’ve always been a chubby kid — it’s evident in my baby pictures which bear remarkable resemblance to Notorious B.I.G as I sit there big-cheeked, big-thighed, staring into the camera with a scowl (I was probably hungry). It was evident from my pants split at the butt-cracks because I was so booty-licious, no amount of fabric or denim could hold it in.
Lisa Ling on Faith
Got to chat with Lisa Ling awhile ago about her new show, Our America. Some point in our conversation, we started getting deep. I had heard her speak on another show about how her new series deals a lot with faith–mainly her own exploration of it. That fascinated me–a journalist willing to explore something so not factually based, so often-divided, so often taboo to explore. (Though I suppose taboo is Ms. Ling’s favorite type of subjects to explore.)

I have this problem. I have a need to share with the world my passions and interests and hope that they will also enjoy it. Hence, this blog is born- to showcase some of the things I'm most fascinated with. Most of the posts relate to the media as it relates to me. (Blame the early twenties neurosis of thinking the world revolves around you). (More..)
