A Work In Progress
This blog, like myself, is always a work in progress.
I’m so blessed to have my good friend Mohamad constantly helping me tweak to make The Media Maid more visually and technically appealing.
As you can see, new changes have been made (Cleaner banner head! Ads! (Welcome BlogHer!) and more changes are soon to come.
Your thoughts are always of utmost importance. I mean, after all, I don’t write on a public blog for myself only. I obviously want people to read it. So please let me know what I can do to improve this blog for you and for me.
…No naked pictures. I’ll leave that to the celebs. *wink wink
Awkward Times
You saw my last post showing off all the nifty old new clothes I found and pieced together for my summer wardrobe, right?
So, I started wearing some of those outfits around. The first being at the Wango Tango concert that I attended with my bosses for work.
I was mighty pleased with myself and the entire evening went fine until towards the end of the night, Big J (big boss) casually slides in, “Oh yea, I read your blog. I read your last post with the outfits…”
I looked down at my duplicated outfit from my fashion post and zipped up my jacket.
Can you say fashion faux pas?
Sigh, that’s what I get for having super, young, trendy, cool bosses.
I know what you’re thinking. No, I’m not saying that just because they could possibly be reading this blog.
(…Hi Big J!)
Old Is New Again
I come from a family of shoppers. Doesn’t matter if we’re rich or poor, we love buying things, returning them, trying them on, buying them for other people, etc etc. I’m the black sheep of the family because even though I do get into the shopping mode once in awhile, I don’t tend to like to spend my money on clothes. Food, yes. Clothes, no.
But this past week, I got the itch. I started seeing pretty things in magazines and on TV and wanting them. Ooh that dress. Aah that shirt!
A quick trip to the mall proved disappointing. I realized that most of the things I coveted that were in style, I had already worn in 6th grade. It seems like these days, what’s old is so old it’s become new again. Why would I want to buy a denim jacket again when it seemed like it was just yesterday I was strutting around wearing one?
I headed to my favorite shop: my family’s storage closet. And I dug and I dug and I dug.
And I found treasures!
Now, the next part is going to be a little uncomfortable for you and I. For me because I have to model some of the clothes I found and for you because, well, you have to look at pictures of me modeling some clothes for you. If you want to leave this site now, you may.
(Did I just make things awkward?)
Motivational Monday: Pretty Girl Rock
Whenever I need a confidence boost, whether it’s en route to an audition, an interview or just a really scary meeting, I blast this.
Keri Hilson “Pretty Girl Rock” from New Hat on Vimeo.
I know a lot of people knocked this song as Keri being very vain but I think she means more in the sense of being pretty on the inside as well as the outside.
There’s being humble and then there’s being someone who just doesn’t have a lot of self-esteem. Don’t be the latter. And really, there’s nothing more beautiful than a woman who’s confident in herself.
When you need a beauty boost one day, whether it’s that massive volcanic pimple about to erupt on your nose, or you’re just not fitting into your clothes really right, or that boy STILL hasn’t called. Blast this!
(Boys, feel free to blast this as well. I guarantee you’ll be feeling prettier!)
Airing Out Your Dirty Laundry
Some people I know have been having a Facebook war of sorts. They’re leaving cryptic statuses with quotes and attacks for each other.
I, understanding a little more about their relationship than their Facebook friends may, find this somewhat amusing that it is in such a public forum where they choose to unleash their anger and communicate with each other.
Mark (played by Jesse) chose the internet to lash out at an ex and look where it got him–billions of dollars and eternal infamy–what was my lesson again?
Motivational Monday: Choose Your Mood

Photo link from Michelle Woo
“When we’re depressed, we obsess with thinking about things we can’t control. But we need to think about the things that we can control instead.”
~ Joz Wang
Choose your mood, your reaction, your outlook, your action.
(And yes, I am fully talking about how I should react during this mad, mad allergy season.)
PS. Joz will be featured in Audrey‘s summer issue along with a handful of other lovely ladies! Check here for more updates.

I have this problem. I have a need to share with the world my passions and interests and hope that they will also enjoy it. Hence, this blog is born- to showcase some of the things I'm most fascinated with. Most of the posts relate to the media as it relates to me. (Blame the early twenties neurosis of thinking the world revolves around you). (More..)
