So Jelly!
My sister, Jessica Jann is so freakin’ cute. If she weren’t my sister, I’d be green with envy at the awesome life she’s having and all the blessings she’s had.
She’s young, she’s beautiful, she’s charming, and she booked a commercial for one of the top food chains in Hong Kong.
Dia Dominates ‘The Voice’
Now that The Voice fever has officially swept the nation, my Facebook news feed, and the Audrey office, I can finally voice (heh heh) my love for the top 4 finalists.
Beverly McClellan, Vicci Martinez, and Javier Colon are all freakin’ telegenic mofos who have more talent in their pinky finger than my whole 5’7″ frame so forgive me for being a little jealous. However, the one I’m rooting for will definitely have to be the soft-spoken folksy half-Korean Dia Frampton.
Motivational Monday: Say No To Sadness!
Look at this pretty bouquet of flowers. A touching gesture of sympathy and love from a dear friend up north. (Thanks J.)
“There are some people who live in a dream world, and there are some who face reality; and then there are those who turn one into the other.”
~Douglass Everett
Anyone else a little more than bummed out with the real world? How are you dealing with it?
I find great conversations, tons of books, prayers, inspirational quotes, laughter, pretty things found only in nature (look above) and repeating over and over again, “You will get through this! You will be awesome! You are a rock star! You can fight this!” in the mirror and then going out and trying to accomplish some things (finally hemming my pants, finally cleaning my closet, finally writing that script that’s been stuck in my head) pretty helpful.
(Asian) American Beauty
I wrote this for Audrey Magazine a couple of weeks ago. Reposting here.
As an assistant editor for a woman lifestyle magazine, I’m exposed to images, faces, bodies and shapes all day, everyday. I surf blogs, I flip through magazines and I interview some of the most “beautiful” people on the planet.
As my life has gotten more infused with the media’s standards of beauty, I have to admit, I became a little disturbed by the narrow scope of what is deemed beautiful in our society. Long limbs, blonde mane, enormous eyes, lush lips, big boobs, etc. etc. As an Asian American woman, we have a slightly different set of requirements to be beautiful (straight black hair, big eyes, clear, pale skin, waify bodyshape, etc. etc) but it’s still there.
But then, I realized I was actually in a position to do something about it!
Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow
It’s cliche but it’s true.
You never know what you have until it’s gone.
{My beautiful yet boring long locks}
My hair was getting long.
It was starting to just become this wisp of a thing that planted flat against my head and clung lifelessly by its roots. Sure, sometimes it was pretty but it was bOring!
Like all restless souls, I needed a change. I wanted to set aside my prudish reputation and BE COOL for once.
Motivational Monday: Good Life
“Oh this has gotta be the good life
This has gotta be the good life
This could really be a good life, good life
Say oh, got this feeling that you can’t fight
Like this city is on fire tonight
This could really be a good life
A good, good life”~OneRepublic
I watched Bridesmaids for the second time and fell in love with the movie even more. Everything was pitch-perfect, from Kristen Wiig, Rose Byrne and Melissa McCarthy’s delightful performances, to just the right balance of crude toilet humor and quick wit, to the awdorable love story. Yet, my favorite part is when Meghan beats the sh*t out of Annie on the couch and forces her to come to terms with the self-pity party she’s having.
Stop blaming the world for your problems and you’ll see that life is freakin’ good if you’ll just let it be.
Daddy’s Girl
Happy Father’s Day, popsicles.
You’ve had a rough year but it’s never too late to start anew. Jess and I will always believe in you.

In Memory
I Love Lucy reruns, paper origami bowls, checkered table clothes, ice cream trucks, soft red sweaters.
Those are among the long list of things I will always associate with my nai nai.
Motivational Monday: Impossible Is Just A Big Word…
{Image via ©Thomas Hoepker-Magnum}
I was born with a weird condition of thinking I could do anything in this world. This fearlessness allowed me to take chances, wear my heart on my sleeves, make a fool out of myself in front of lots and lots of people.
But then sadly, over the years, something changed. This word “impossible” began to creep in. It began to infiltrate my thoughts.
Snapshot Of My Day: So It’s Not In Vain
I really liked my makeup today but unfortunately, plans to LA fell through and I was stuck working for the rest of the evening so the only thing that got to stare at my face was my computer screen(s) and my family (who don’t count ’cause they always think I’m beautiful).
But now I get to make all my blog readers stare at my face! Yay! (Please don’t unsubscribe…)
Haha, you can see how thick my glasses are by how small they shrink the sides of my face.

I have this problem. I have a need to share with the world my passions and interests and hope that they will also enjoy it. Hence, this blog is born- to showcase some of the things I'm most fascinated with. Most of the posts relate to the media as it relates to me. (Blame the early twenties neurosis of thinking the world revolves around you). (More..)
