Hi Hi Hi Hi!

As the planes are starting to take each person away one by one, I officially recognize that my holiday has ended.  And what a season it has been.

What had begun as a Christmas I was expecting to spend mostly alone ended up being one surrounded by family and love.

So… my grandfather passed away 1-5-2011. Not to go into any details but because we knew the end was coming near, my family flew in from all parts of the world to be there for him and for my grandma and for each other. It’s crazy to think that my agong is gone but he has had a long life and he was in a lot of pain during his last days. I’d like to think the Lord has mercy and has brought him to somewhere peaceful.

It’s really tough to discuss a loved one’s passing so soon because we’re still in the grieving process and still adapting to the changes the loss has unlocked.  I definitely feel this year will be an…interesting one (but really, aren’t they all?)

I can say for certaintly though, I most certainly enjoyed the company of my family. Below, a random amalgam of happiness.

Please don’t think there weren’t plenty of tears during this time. There were. There still is. But one thing I have taken away from this experience–from this year–is that happiness doesn’t come around all the time. But it does often comes around in unexpected moments. So when it does visit, you grab onto it and don’t let it go. And you share it with as many people as you can find.

Dealing with the loss of my grandfather was unbearably painful. But seeing how close my family is, how much we have grown and gone through together is unbelievably gratifying.  We made plenty of promises to uphold future reunions soon – hopefully not because of anyone’s bad health.  And hopefully we keep those promises.

And on another note, are we ready to rock 2011 or what?! (I know I’m 18 days late with this question but whatevs.)
